What is Computer?

Machine programming. Two of the main features of the computer are:

• answer to a specific set of instructions in the way of well-defined.

• can be done in advance a list of instructions (program).

Modern computers have been electronic and digital. The actual mechanism - cable, transistors and services - and called devices;, instructions and data, called software.

All the following general objectives required hardware components:

• Memory: To enable the computer to store at least temporarily, data and programs.

• storage device: allow your computer to retain large amounts of data. Joint mass storage devices, including innovative and competitive devices.

• Participation of the device: This is usually the keyboard and mouse, which contributes to data entry and computer instructions.

• output: screen, printer or other devices that allow you to see through the computer.

• The central processing unit (CPU): the heart of the computer, this element is, in fact, the implementation of the instructions.

In addition to these elements, and many others allow for essential elements to work together effectively. For example, a computer needs a bus transfer data from one part of the computer to another.

Computers and can be broadly classified by size and content as follows, although there is considerable overlap:

• PC: Small, a user based on computer microprocessors. In addition to microprocessors and PC keyboard for entering data and monitoring the information and means to save storage.

• Workstations: strong, a user of the computer. There are workstations, such as personal computers, but this is the most powerful microprocessors and high quality management.

• Calculator: A multi-user computer capable of supporting 10 to hundreds of users simultaneously.

• PC: strong, multi-user computer suitable for many hundreds or thousands of users simultaneously.

• Supercomputer: high-speed computers, which can lead to hundreds of millions of instructions per second.
